Frank and Mack

Frank and Mack are both ex-UP C44-9Ws, #9711 and #9703 respectively. Frank & Mack almost always work together, pulling the heaviest of trains along the length of the route. Frank and Mack were surplus diesels and among the first three to work the MRC. Frank is the smarter of the two, but Mack usually leads the trains. Mack isn’t “slow,” as most people assume, rather he views the world differently than everyone else. Mack does have his moments of brilliance, however, and is a very competent worker. Both locomotives were de-rated to 4,100 hp due to the needs of the railway, but are well known for hauling the longest trains on the line.
